Why you can claim
By Law, bank charges have to be based on what it costs the bank. When someone goes overdrawn, bounces a cheque or fails to pay a direct debit it only costs the bank a few pounds. But the bank will charge you up to £30 or £40 and make vast profits. This is unlawful and causes people huge problems.
In April 2006 the Office of Fair Trading ruled that many banks were overcharging customers. They are now taking the banks to the High Court to finally argue the legality of these excessive charges.
High Court Case – Latest News
In the first phase of the Court Case the Judge ruled that the Office of Fair Trading has the right to decide whether bank charges are unfair. The banks are currently appealing and it is likely to be some months before a final decision is reached.
In the meantime the Financial Services Authority has allowed all the banks to put any complaints about bank charges ‘on hold’. We’re confident that the banks will lose the High Court case and it’s essential that anybody who hasn’t done so already should sign up now so we can claim back your money as soon as the court has made its decision.
What We Do
We’ll request all the information we need from your bank and then calculate the total charges you have paid and add interest to each charge. We’ll put your claim together to ensure a watertight case and we’ll do all the paperwork to meet the high standards of the courts.
We’ll then lodge a detailed complaint with your bank. This is because there are still 13 million people yet to claim, so the banks are going to be completely overwhelmed when the Office of Fair Trading makes its ruling. The banks could take months to respond to this many complaints so we will effectively be placing you at the front of the queue.

This will make your claim effective from now as apposed to the date of the ruling, potentially adding hundreds of pounds to your claim.
